Data Sales Executive
BigGeo, The Spatial Cloud · Remote, United States or Canada · Reports to the Chief Growth Officer
BigGeo is the Spatial Cloud, the infrastructure layer that makes the world’s spatial data accessible to any company, at any scale, in seconds. Our marketplace puts hundreds of data listings, from location and foot traffic to real estate, population, and risk, in front of the people who need them.
We are early, Calgary-based, and moving fast, and we are hiring a Data Sales Executive to find buyers and turn them into customers.
The Role
This is a high-velocity data sales role: find, engage, close, move on. You find buyers, engage them fast, and close the first purchase. There are no contracts to negotiate and no months-long procurement. Once a buyer is on the platform, Customer Success takes over to onboard them, grow the account, and own the relationship. Your job is to go find the next buyer.
What You’ll Do
-
Find. Build and work a high-volume pipeline of organizations that buy data, across the categories listed on the BigGeo marketplace.
-
Engage. Run fast, sharp discovery. Match the buyer to the right datasets and get them to first value quickly, talking to data buyers and business users in their own language.
-
Close. Get the buyer signed up and to their first purchase. This is a sign-up-and-buy motion built for speed, not a long sales cycle.
-
Move on. Hand the new customer to Customer Success for onboarding and expansion, then go find the next one.
-
Work the numbers. Keep an honest, clean pipeline and a high close rate. Volume and velocity are the game.
-
Bring the field back in. What converts and what stalls sharpens our listings, pricing, and positioning.
-
Sell AI-natively. Use Claude, ChatGPT, or equivalents to research accounts, prep outreach, and move faster. AI fluency is part of how the role is performed.
What You Bring
-
A proven data-selling track record. Non-negotiable. You have sold the kinds of datasets on marketplace.biggeo.com and you can point to deals you closed.
-
A high-velocity closer’s instinct. You win new logos fast and you work volume. You would rather close ten this month than spend six months on one.
-
Comfort with a sign-up-and-buy motion. Short cycles, fast qualification, quick to first purchase.
-
Range across data buyers. You can hold a credible conversation with a data or analytics team and a business user alike.
-
Comfort in an emerging category where the buyer’s mental model is still forming.
-
Sales hygiene. Honest forecasting, clean pipeline, timely notes.
-
Location. Based in the United States or Canada, authorized to work where you live.
Nice to Have
- An existing network of data buyers you can bring into the pipeline from day one.
- Familiarity with spatial data, GIS, geospatial APIs, or POI, foot traffic, and mobility datasets.
- A velocity sales background: product-led, self-serve, or transactional data and SaaS.
- Experience selling data to US customers, our key market. Selling into other regions is a plus.
How We Work
- Open category, real infrastructure. You shape what the category becomes, not fight for the middle of an existing market.
- Flat and direct. No layers, no hand-off walls, clarity over politics.
- Remote role, in-office core. The team builds in person at our downtown Calgary HQ, and you’ll join for regular off-sites and time together.
- A team that respects your time and invests in the work that matters.
